SMART-WAY

Work Package 3: Specification

Objectives

  • Clarification of all technical and organizational issues will be examined to provide a well-structured base.
  • Using the meta results, a concept of the entire emerging system must be developed, leading to a specification of the core SMART-WAY system.
  • Technical issues must be addressed, beginning with an integration of geographic information system (GIS) data and real-time data from public transport companies.
  • Analysis and corresponding of passenger-to-vehicle positioning data will be used to parallel the positions.
  • Scenarios of possible re-scheduling situations, based on traffic disruption or personal factors, can be determined.
  • Finally, a workshop containing all results from WP2 and 3 must be organized to form the basis for a discussion of all developers and experts.
  • The workshop will provide current information to all project members, and assist in future decisions regarding upcoming tasks.

System and Meta Data Concept

  • Create concept for SMART-WAY base with all interfaces
  • All functional aspects must be collected
  • Non-functional aspects must be identified and applied to the concept
  • Separation of system into modules which supports the development process
  • Define database to prevent future inconsistencies
  • Development of integration concept into database

Integration of GIS and Real-Time Information Systems

  • Main focus on integrating public transport data into SMART-WAY systems
  • Possible implementations studied and analyzed
  • Design of interface connecting to GIS
  • Timetable data stations matched against GIS data from traffic management systems
  • Organizational structures will be developed for passenger recognition

Navigation Scenarios and Vehicle-Passenger Matching

  • Identification of passenger scenarios to prevent potential complications
  • Conducted analysis of passenger, vehicle, and real-time data positions from public transport data
  • Strategies involving the possibilities of this analysis
  • Scenarios discussed and documented in respect to the simulation model of WP 6

Workshop with Experts and Developers

  • Discussion involving results from WP 2 and 3
  • Final documentation containing decisions for further progression
  • Essential for implementation in WP 4
